In cooking you are taught to salt as you go to add layers of flavor and avoid over salting at the end and having no solutions but to drink lots of water during your meal. In life it is best to keep things bland and only salt things up with tears when necessary...unfortunately I've been over salting my life lately.
This deployment has been trying, no doubt, but I feel I have done incredibly well handling the obstacles. Now I am literally just "a couple" weeks away from homecoming and I am salting my life daily. The anticipation is almost too much to deal with. Thankfully I have a great family and some really wonderful friends who listen to my struggles and help me along the way.
Life is always going to be salty where the Navy is concerned, but I am ready to battle it with plenty of sweetness. Nick will be deploying again this year almost the same time as last year so it will chalk up to our third Christmas apart in a row. However, I am getting a great group of local friends, staying involved in the woman's club, and doing things that make me happy that keep the saltiness at bay.
I am always looking forward to the great next recipe in cooking or in life...it is how you deal with the salt levels that matter.
As a friend said the other day, I'm doing it "salty-wife" style.

You are doing GREAT Andi:) I am always amazed at your positivity as well as your ability to adapt to new situations and environments....hang in there, we're almost through this one:)The "salt" in life makes the good stuff oh so much sweeter!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Robin! I am amazed at you. You are handling this deployment and your pregnancy with so much grace. You've been a good deployment buddy. I hope we don't do it again anytime soon (for your sake!) LOL. We're almost done. Hooyah!
